Formula in hotkey

I am probably just forgetting, but cannot find it anywhere. If I want a hotkey to be a specific formula which includes a die roll, such as 3d6 + 8 can I do that?

Sure, you type the slash command into the chat input and then click and drag it to the hotkey bar. Clicking it will send it to the chat and then roll the dice. The example you gave would be:
/die 3d6+8
