Setup:

* Fantasy Grounds Unity (4.2.2 Ultimate 2022-06-07)
* Mac Studio (M1 Max processor).
* 5E Ruleset

Steps:

1. I open one version of FGU with the following command in Terminal:

open -n /Applications/SmiteWorks/Fantasy\ Grounds/FantasyGrounds.app

(This is not how I would normally start FGU, but I saw it suggested in another forum post, so have been doing that. It doesn't seem like the method of opening the first instance of FGU should matter, but just in case, I am running it this way.)

2. Once it opens, I load the campaign
I set it to LAN before starting.

3. I open the second version of FGU with the following command in Terminal:

open -n /Applications/SmiteWorks/Fantasy\ Grounds/FantasyGrounds.app

4. I try to join my game.
Enter "localhost" (without the quotes) into the IP address field.

5. Click "Start"

Result:
Two things generally happen.

1. It hangs on the "Attempting to connect" screen.

2. It errors out with: "Authorization failed: License Key Conflict

What I've tried:

* 1802 is forwarding to my computer from my router. Since I am connecting via localhost, I don't think this would matter.
* Ensured that 1802 was allowed through my Mac's firewall
* Downloaded FGU onto my Macbook Air (Intel) laptop and tried connecting to my Mac Studio using its network IP address. This was successful. (Note: I did not enter my Ultimate license key.)
* Explicitly stating the port in the port field
* Changing the port from 1802 to 1803 (on both instances)
* Restarted my computer
* Tested with two different campaign files. One campaign had no extensions installed.

I believe that I have exhausted all advice that I've come across in the forums, so if y'all have any other tricks up your sleeve, I would very much appreciate it.

Moderator: I've moved this to its own thread since this is a different issue from the one you posted in.

The IP address returned to the application by both instances of FG must match (both internal and external); or it will be seen as a different computer. You can try turning off wireless or other network connections to see if that resolves the ability to self-connect.

I tried to get it to work for an hour before making the above post. After I posted, I had some errands to run. I come back, and see your post. Rather than just turn off my ethernet (not on wifi) I want to make sure that the error is still occurring as expected... AND the damned thing works. It's like one of those car problem that go away when you finally take it into the mechanic. Sheesh.

So, anyone else finding this thread in the future, in addition to the list of things to try above, add the following to your list:

* Make sure you're not connected to a second network with a different IP address
* Wait for an hour or so and then try again.

Thanks for taking the time to read through my post and offer a suggestion @Moon Wizard. Much appreciated. Now I can troubleshoot which extensions are preventing damage from being calculated... Fun.
