This file will install in your rulesets folder. This ruleset will allow you to play Swords and Wizardry and three other White Box OSR games.

The game selection is made via the options menu. The three other currently supported games are:

OWB001: WWII: Operation White Box: World War II - DTRPG Link (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/196284/OWB001-WWII-Operation-WhiteBox)

White Star: White Box Science Fiction Roleplaying - DTRPG Link (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/148169/White-Star-White-Box-Science-Fiction-Roleplaying-Swords--Wizardry)

Eldritch Tales: Lovecraftian White Box Role-Playing- DTRPG Link (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/250356/Eldritch-Tales-Lovecraftian-White-Box-RolePlaying)

When you select the game you are playing it will change the character sheet, attribute bonuses, and even some rollers. This ruleset should work with all Smite Works supported themes. I personally tested White Star with the store purchased futuristic theme. (still working on the vehicle tab to update ha)

I am working with Myrdin Potter to bring the core books to the Forge for OWB, White Star and Eldritch tales. There will be a separate support thread for each book.

OWB is 95% complete. Just cleaning up the rulebook to make the reference manual look a little nicer and fixing a couple of data entry errors for items as such as I learn the ruleset.

Is there any plan to do AAC for Swords and Wizardry? I don't do the descending and hoping to run S&W soon on FG, but can't if it's AAC. Thanks!

I purchased the package and it isn't showing up in Game Systems (rulesets) after a restart and update. Is it an extension to another ruleset?

You purchased the modules. They require the free swords and wizards ruleset. See the first post on this thread.

Did you get the ruleset or or rules? There are two different packages.

If it was not free you did not get the ruleset, you got the S&W rulebook and need the rule set as well.

Not sure if I am missing something but when you hover or damage in the weapons it says "HOLD SHIFT FOR DOUBLE DAMAGE" but when i do so and roll it does not double.

it does when you target a monster on the CT. If you drag the result from chat it correctly applies it as well. let me know the steps you are using if this is not working for you. Thanks

Awesome. I did not want to mess with the die result but the flag double damage actually does something you you drag it from chat.

Im trying to enter a new character class as i want to Run this game https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/190299/Crypts-and-Things-Remasteredwhich is based of Sword and wizardry.
how would I go about modding the character sheet.. I want to add a couple of new attributes , Luck and Sanity and change the save box to a skill box

That is going to require an extension. This is not a white box game like the others. Your best bet might be more core.

the game is based swords and wizardry. I think i have found a work around using the skills on the powers tab
I have noticed ATK box for weapons adds to the attack roll and the damage, is it meant to do this? also if i add a modifier to just the DMG box it gets ignored?

Also are the automated effects the same as the OSE set?

yes working as intended. 1d8 +1 as damage does indeed also work. Did you buy the core rules? Lots of examples in there

OK Hawkwind its all fixed up. Great feedback. If you need to some tweaks to how powers are working to get your game to work let me know. Does that game say specifically "Designed to work with S&W Whitebox" The other three do so if it does say that I'll entertain changing the ruleset code.

I'll get the short bow updated and send it over to Matt.

The tags are for information at the moment. I left some basic stuff in there to adapt other white box games into the ruleset. Right now the ruleset fully supports SW, WW2,White Star and Eldritch tales.

It even has vehicle combat. When the new core rpg update comes out I might look at what they did and retool it a bit.

G'day I hope this is the right place for this..
1/ The Classes in OWB have some errors in them (XP and HD) 56823
2/ The sniper class is missing it's class abilities 56824

3/ The burst fire still doesn't work for me. No ammo is used when burst fire is clicked. (The added suppression option works fine using the entire magazine)
4/ Are there any quality of life extensions for OWB. Eg When enemies slain on the map, a visual cue, like death's head or similar.
5/ Is there a link somewhere explaining how to edit the powers tab on the character sheet. eg Like Rally that adds 1 to AC for 60 turns.

As I said previously the updated suppression check box worked, but not burst fire .

Where did you say that? I'm not seeing it. What exactly are you expecting burst fire to do wrt to ammo? This thread is for the ruleset. Issues with modules need to go in appropriate thread. When in doubt do one post and just roll with it. Posting in multiple places and discord will result in confusion.

When I load up the S&W ruleset and go to activate modules, I see all of my Call of Cthulhu 7e modules in the list. Is that normal behavior? I do not have the universal modules plugin loaded (or any plugin for that matter). I can just ignore them, but I thought it was a little odd. Thanks!

I said the check box for suppressive fire works. Therefore I must have updated to get that change.
Then you told me in post #24 above "Burst fire was fixed two days ago. Run an update."
So you didn't read my post properly to know that I HAD in fact updated.

So I expect that burst fire would use about 1/3 of a magazine.(answering your question)

This following excerpt is from p47 of the OWB manual
"...This gives them about three attacks (bursts) with each magazine. "

Clearly you have your back up with me.
I am only giving feedback and asking questions about a ruleset I have never used before.
I have been using FG for other rulesets since 2018 and have never been made to feel like my feedback/questions are annoying people.
So this is a waste of my time defending myself, when I just want to get my OWB campaign up and running..

I have seen the reports of the issues. I am out of town and cannot send the fix in but will once I am back.

You can copy and modify the attribute of the weapon the is keeping burst fire from working for the few weapons that your players are using so that error will go away until the newer updated rulebook is uploaded.

Noone is attacking you bud. We just want to get it working. This all boils down to capacity not being updated properly. Potter will get it updated.

Still working on Rappan Athuk, but took a break to do 'Legacy of Blackscale Lagoon' which I'm about finished with. Just need to do an edit and add player maps. Is this something mythmere would be interested in?

I saw the 5e version maps was updated today. Did you use those maps in your implementation? If you edit maps from a module its probably always better to make a local copy. In this instance to get the map to show you may need to revert changes if this is the case.

There is no Wiki. SW complete rules found on the Forge has examples. It should be pretty self explanatory though.

getting a bunch of error messages when adding an NPC to the combat tracker.
Fresh campaign, no extensions.
Just Monsters, Player Manual and Referee Book loaded

OK thanks for the report. I had done a fix for this awhile ago and it looks like I had a version control issue when I did the last update. Pushing the update now. If you see anything else let me know. I am going to go back through my change log to make sure I got everything.

I found a few more deprecated warnings I will take care of today. This should not impact the play. FG 4.5 update looks good to go.

Sorry Bayne, I'm beating you up lol. I've been in a retro clone mood lately.

Minor - The Swords and Wizardry Referee Book module has 3 blank pre-generated characters

Minor - Party Sheet 'XP' tab text color is dark
Minor - PC record tabs text color are dark

Probably not a bug, I might be dense or this is a feature request - Does the ruleset handle multi-class automation?

Hmm run an update I fixed the tab colors of charsheet and records. I'll look at PS. As far as the typos, I am not sure Matt published last fixes so may have to live with the typos. I can't push them

Bayne,

I was looking at the Paladin Class and noticed all the Experience Points are off by one level in the Data Tab for the Class. Level 1 starts out 2000 instead of 0, Level 2 is 4000. This error continues all the way through to Level 20. Level 21 has 0 Experience Points.

Level 1 should start at 0 and Level 2 should be 2000, so on and so forth.

I'll test it out on actual character creation but I believe it is setup right. The Xp is what is required for next level not current.
