Some of the new features and how they are expected to work are not obvious. I recommend anyone testing the beta to watch Joshua demo the new changes in this video Fantasy Grounds Map & Image Creation with Joshua Watmough (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvDAXzUtLGQ&t=8851s) . After watching the video I had a better understanding of what and how to test the beta.
