Hello all, I have a request for the developers to adjust how you can create items in Fantasy Grounds 4e.
If you arent aware of how this process works, please watch this video https://youtu.be/NzvU0DQhZkA.

As you can see from it, Fantasy Grounds 4e has a system in place for creating magic items, using those grey "base" item cards found within the reference from some of my modules. But as the DDI is offline and these modules can't be created anymore, if you wanted to create a magic item in 4e you would have to do every item by hand. This is because, in 4e, you cant create those grey "base" cards, you can only create the orange cards, which FG considers a level 0 magic item template and thus can't be used with another magic item template to create a new item.

I think that this should be a fairly simple fix, just allow for the creation of those base item cards or allow level 0 magic item templates to be used on other magic item templates.

I know 4e isn't one of the biggest communities here on the forums, but we still Exist! and s someone who want to create items that could be used by the magic item templates, it would be a great help.

Thank you so much for your time!

Yeah, magic item creation seems like a hack the way it's done now.
Maybe put this in the 4e forum so it doesn't get lost.

The 4E (and 3.5E) versions of magic item creation using drag and drop was the very first attempt at supporting this type of behavior. However, without official licenses to access and support the content, there hasn't been any further work on this type of system.

In fact, the 4E ruleset doesn't have the concept of an "item template" at all. Even adding it would be problematic, since all the old tools to scrape the data and any old modules built using those tools would not know to separate templates from items (like 5E). So, I would guess that anyone attempting to even build an extension to enhance these behaviors would run into challenges. (At this point, the 4E code that did this was written over 10 years ago.)
