Is there a way to default "subscription" to unchecked?

Not sure where this simple post would fit, but you know how at the bottom of a forum post under "Additional Options" there's the check box for "Subscribe to this thread and notify"? That seems to be , by default, auto checked all the time. Is there a way to make the default state be UN-checked instead? Then its just up to me if I want to sub to a thread each time to just check it?

Go into your profile and set the subscription option you want in the messaging and notification section.
