Can I add class levels to an NPC, or turn an NPC into PC so I can dd levels to it?

Other than the obvious of typing NPC stats into a PC sheet, and adding levels - is there a quicker/easier way?

You can edit the NPC or as you say make it a PC. But no, you can't automatically add a class or class levels to an NPC.
