Hello:

Some magic items in the PotA module have turned into dead links. I seem to recall these working before, but now it creates a New Item when I click on them from the reference manual. The items are: the balloon pack, bottled breath, claws of the umber hulk, devastation orb, and seeker dart; orc splitter, drown, ironfang, and tinderstrike.

I have tried restoring the whole module (right clicking on the module and selecting restore). I have tried deleting the module from the vault folder and re-downloading, then opening in a new campaign. Same result, these items are MIA.

Any other ideas? Is there a cache somewhere I am missing that I should clear?

This has all been fixed and the updated module should go out in Tuesdays update.

If only we played on Tuesdays instead of weekends. Are we reaching the point where FG has grown too big and complex with all the interdependencies for the team to keep it working reliably?

Not in my opinion. One thing that application development has to contend with is stability versus innovation. Perfect stability can be achieved, but completely eliminating innovation (or atleast introducing so much overhead and validation that innovation becomes incredibly expensive).

A way to think of it, FG has what 1700? DLC products in the store, and if each update temporarily breaks only 1 of them (like happened wit POTA this time, I'm not aware of others that broke) is something like 99.94% reliability. Of course, there are other things that go into calculating reliability, but it gives you an idea that FGU is pretty stable even as it continues to innovate. It's just that even a tiny bit of instability with a community as large as ours is going to affect dozens of games :(

The problem with PotA was a mistake I made when I last updated it. One of the tools I used had an incorrect setting which I didn't notice and so Monsters and items pulled in from the DMG and Monster Manual didn't get pulled into the module properly. I didn't catch the error but someone else did and it was fixed right away. In retrospect I should have released it as a hotfix last week but even at the point I fixed it I didn't realise the extent of the problem.
