View Full Version : Toggleable Doors?

Hello, been preparing and testing maps for a campaign I am going to run and this morning I ran into a strange problem: I seem to have lost the ability to toggle doors open and closed. First I built out the dungeon: floors, walls, doors, pit trap. I made separate layers for the secret doors so I could make them invisible once opened, ditto for the pit. Next did the LOS: traced wall occluders through the walls, carefully NOT covering the doors with them. Outlined the pit with the pit function, made the secret doors with togglable walls. And, as one might expect, used the door LOS option to cover all the door images.

Brought in a player token, turned on the LOS, light, etc, and started exploring. The toggleable walls have the open button I can click (though still have to hide the paint layer to get rid of that section of wall), the pit stops the token when stepped on until I open it, again with a toggle, and make the pit image visible for a nasty surprise. Awesome, everything is going great. I have the token approach the first door, LOS is blocked as expected, go to click the toggle and... it doesn't appear. I try shift-clicking to see if it is locked, but that does nothing. For me the door LOS is functioning exactly like the wall LOS, which is less than ideal. I could go back and replace all the door sections with toggleable wall, since that seems to be working, but... I'd rather not. Any ideas as to why my doors are all stuck?

Oh yeah, I loaded up a previous map that I made a little while back, for which all the doors, windows, etc opened fine during testing. I mouse over one of those objects now and the open toggle appears for a split second, then disappears. Can't click it, can't make it come back, these doors and windows are acting like walls too, so it is not just the new map I made. Please help!

Something similar happened on a conversion recently . Try deleting the secret door and readd it. We could never figure out why it happens though but it seemed to fix it.

Tried it, didn't help. Er, any other ideas? Thank you!

PS. If it matters (don't see how it could, but if) I am using the PF2 ruleset.

Can you double check it's on the correct layer? And maybe screenshot it.

Which layer are they supposed to be on? I tried it both with the LOS layer selected and with it not. The doors are on the same layer as the walls, though, as mentioned, they do not overlap.

Here are screenshots showing 1) just entered the dungeon, 2) opened secret door (and toggle for walls working), 3) no toggle appearing for doors, and 4) the LOS layer.

Can you try deleting the token and dragging from the CT again? I'm sorry I am spitballing at this point.

Your last image shows the door as a single line. It needs to be a closed polygon - a rectangle in other words. I've not messed with putting Los in different layers. I'd suggest that it should be added all on one layer for simpilicity.

The rectangle thing is what I was missing/had forgotten. A bit unintuitive, but it works! Thank you for your help on this, I kid you not, my birthday. Happy Gaming!
