Battles

So my friend is running his first campaign on FGU of Traveler. I am the usual DM but am only familiar with D and D and I am trying to answer any questions that arrive.
In 5E, when setting up combat, one creates an encounter that can be traded into the combat tracker. So is Battle side button the same function as the encounter button. Or do you just drag non players s from the list into the combat tracker

Correct, it was a community request to rename some of the sidebar buttons to be more thematic for Traveller. Battles = Encounters, and Missions = Quests.
