As the title suggest I am a brand new gm. Have everything under control for the most part. My party members are starting to ask for magic weapons and I am struggling to figure out how to apply the traits to the weapons. For example the Ranger wants a bane evil outsiders composite longbow. I tried dragging the red dot for bane into the properties section but nothing happened. Any guidance is much appreciated thank you

You need to use effects.
https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996643237/PFRPG+and+3.5E+Effects
If you are unfamiliar with these you can use this extension to have a graphical interface when using them
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?72159-Effect-Builder
The bane effect can be applied like this:
IFT: TYPE (outsider, evil); ATK: 2 ranged; DMG: 2 ranged; DMG: 2d6 ranged
And based on his weapon enchantment remember to add damage types( example a +1 bane evil outsider counts as +3 weapon vs evil outsiders. And +3 weapon count as cold iron and silver vs damage reduction.
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Overcoming-DR
So add this at the end of the above effect
DMGTYPE: cold iron, silver
Please note that I might have misspelled something, I am typing this without testing it, if there is one wrong character the effect will not work

Thank you and would this be the same with some feats? Do I have to manually add them?

Any feats that would add some bonus to a character (take Power Attack or Point Blank Shot), need to be added as Effects - they wont automatically apply.
The effects wiki page linked above should allow you to create pretty much anything.

Keep in mind that the effects are on the character not the weapon, so if your ranger uses a different weapon you’ll need to disable the effect (look under Combat Tracker, Active State on that first page that Svandal linked).

Or, if you want the effect just on a weapon, you could use an extension like Advanced Effects: https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/33/view
It will allow you to add effects to items and can specify when they are equipped, or used during an action, the effect can automatically be applied.
Cheers,
