Is there a way to add just the good descriptor effect to a weapon?

Not sure if DMG: good would do it.

"good" is considered a damage type for the 3.5E ruleset.

No. "DMG" is for additional damage. "DMGTYPE" is for changing the damage type for all damage rolls. So, try "DMGTYPE: good".
