You can't currently use animated images. JPG and PNG are currently supported, info in the Wiki here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996640166/Working+with+Images+as+the+GM#Importing-Images-into-Fantasy-Grounds

Is there talks for this happening in the near future? Other VTTs are able to handle mp4 files. I love FGU and hope that they are able to keep up with advancing technologies.

You can buy camtasia, record the animated map and use its own tool to convert it into an animated jpeg.

AND the weasels want a yearly fee now and its high.

OK, look around for free video recording software and you should be able to do the same thing.

The unity engine for Fantasy Grounds supports the WebM VP8 format. You will need a program like the free Shutter Encoder app to convert and remove any potential audio channel. Since Fantasy Grounds is not browser based, the supported codecs and file support types will differ.
