View Full Version : Server History only saving 1 value every time

I couldn't find any existing threads about this or anything on google so hopefully this isn't a duplicate or anything...

I'm playing on FG Unity with a group of 5 and we connect to 2 servers that our DM made for us, 1 for Call of Cthulhu and one for DnD. Each time I look at the server history and only see the last server I logged into. So every week I have to search and reenter password and each time the server history only saves 1 value and forgets the other server. At first I thought it was just how fantasy grounds works but then one of the players said it saves both servers for her and another player said he experiences the same problem that I do and it only remembers the last server we logged into.

I'm logged in and I can't see anything in the FG settings that could account for this. Is this a known issue? Is there some special hidden thing we have to do to get the client to save more than 1 server in the history box?

Servers are different than campaigns. Does s/he use different computers for each campaign? Is it a LAN or cloud brokered connection?

oh, i didn't know that. it's on the same computer afaik. I'm assuming it's that cloud thing you mentioned because we always connect to him by looking for his username and then clicking his campaign from the "join cloud game" list and writing the password. also, the person that DOES manage to save both in history is not in the same country as the DM who has opened the campaigns for us so she's also connecting in the same manner that we who have the problem are connecting to them

Ok, so you are all connecting via a cloud brokered connection. I don't know if two campaigns from the same GM would be displayed differently. I don't think so, but since I've never played for a GM in 2 different campaigns, I'm not sure. It would be interesting to get a screen shot from someone who does say they see both games, as I don't know what that would look like.

If you connect to GMA and to GMB and to GMC it will remember each of those
but if you connect to GMA Campaign1 and GMA Campaign2 and GMA Campaign3 it will only remember the last one.

she sees them this way:
51689

Her history has both and she can simply join them whenever our session is up without having to relocate it or reenter the password or anything. I am only able to see one at a time while the other is erased every time the other campaign is joined...

The GMs names are different between those two.
It is case sensitive.

But we are both joining the same games at the same times on the same versions with the same people in the same manner. The only difference between us is that she maintains both in her history and i don't and we don't know why

If the DM uses the same password for each Campaign, then you can just click the last one you connected, even if the name of the game is different, and FG will connect as usual.
If he uses a different password for each Campaign, then you can still connect but will be prompted to enter the correct password.

he uses different passwords but the player who has them saved said she didn't have to do anything. just click the server in the history box and that's it

Post a screenshot of what you see.

I see it exactly the same but only one of the 2 every time, like so:

51690

@Damned in post #7 has the answer - the GM name in the History list displays the same GM name with different case as different GM names (chasetor and Chasetor) - but the underlying FG connection code is not case sensitive, seeing chasetor and Chasetor as the same GM name and so allowing connection.

in any case, what do i need to do to reach the same situation that my friend is in?

Next time you cnnect to his game, type in his username manually as "chasetor" Then the time after that you history will have bot like hers does.

Does it matter what i write in the search box or do i need to write it somewhere special? because normally all i do is just double-click his campaigns to join them

If you want both in your history list, you can not use the history or by selecting the search results. You must use the Join by GM Name box, and capitalize it wrong.

okay, thank you. i will try it out but it will prly take me an extra week to wait for our next sessions, i'll update if it worked then

YES! adding it that way fixed it! thank you! i still recommend that history saves by campaign name and not GM name or something like that. it'll make the history function better ^^"
