I saw that the beta version introduced changes to the currency.
These changes have a greater purpose, such as the insertion of
"shopping" at the base (Core RPG)?

One certain benefit is standardizing the data around currencies. Eliminating currency/denomination data from my Coins Weight extension, for example, was great for simplicity and makes it much easier for users to handle homebrew data.
There are a lot of extensions that have had to develop their own data structures relating to currencies and denominations and now data can be entered in one place for multiple extensions to pull data from.
This will simplify the experience for both extension devs and users and help reduce incompatibilities.

But perhaps this is also paving the road for future CoreRPG functionality as you suggest.
