Hello folks,
Is there a way for me to setup a driftglobe that can be dragged and dropped from a character sheet onto a map?
For example:
Player is in a dark room and wants to whip out his Driftglobe.
They go to their Actions tab, drag the Driftglobe "Light Spell" onto the combat map and a token representing the Driftglobe is placed on the map, complete with light effect. When the player wants to move the Driftglobe, they just click and drag like they would their character token.

This is done in various modules/extension that are sold - but essentially its making an NPC with lighting effects that you can place and move around the map - if done by a player they would need to be given owner ship of it (FGU does poor job of full control ownership but again various extensions do this also). Either way requires action from DM usually to get the NPC placed and owned.
Though I'm not an expert on players with NPC access and how that works out if they can place them in raw FGU (not aware that they can at least).

Without an extension, you will not be able to drag and drop from a character sheet. Vanilla FG I would have the DM drop a token onto the map, add the token to Party Vision and movement, and add an effect to it. You might have to have it in the CT (where it would need to be an ally and shared to the PC) to add an effect, not sure. Note, it will also give vision from the token, so not exactly what you want either.

Create an NPC for the driftgloabe and give control of the NPC to the player. Details on how to do that in this video https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?43513-Video-Giving-player-control-of-an-NPC&p=387176#post387176
Note than in FGU you'll need to switch on Party movement and vision if you want the player to be able to move it. Once the NPC is on the Map you can give it a light source.

Or this if 5E... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP8shmF656Q
Point is there are many choices including you just doing it for yourself.
