Ship battles in Unity 5e Ghosts of Saltmarsh can Players control ships?

Hi what's the best way to manage a ship battle? Does the DM control all ship NPC's or is there some way to let the players control a ship?

You can give the players control of any NPC the same way. Make them friendly and then share them, then either add the token to Party Vision & Movement (right click) or turn on the option for Party Vision & Movement. Or get one of the extensions that gives control of NPC tokens to PCs.
