As the title says i just started this last night. Im wondering on the join campaign page if its cool to join any of the unlocked ones or is there some different way for new players to get some leeway on learning the ropes? This whole thing seems to have a very steep learning curve hehe.

Welcome Premem!

Joining an unlocked game uninvited is probably not a good idea but I'll let others comment on that.

If you haven't already, make sure you check out the Fantasy Grounds Academy (https://fantasygroundscollege.net) website as well as join their Discord Channel (https://discordapp.com/invite/Ew6nYyw).

Also, might be helpful posting your preferred rpg system, D&D 5e, Savage Worlds, etc., so that people can provide more specific guidance.

And always start with the User Guide for Fantasy Grounds Unity, that provides more than enough to start using the software. In contrast to other VTT, the documentation of the main program, the core ruleset and the official ones is quite good:

If you're planning to run Fantasy Grounds as a GM, HywelPhillips has written an excellent QuickStart guide for assembling and running a small adventure. I'm very much a Fantasy Grounds noob, and his documents have been fantastic in helping me to learn the ropes.

Preparing an Adventure
Pre-Gen Characters
Dry Run A Game

Just thought I'd mention these documents being as they're not in an obvious place.
