View Full Version : WHY? - Updating should never end up deleting the game!

This has happend before and it is extremly annoying! I enter FGU, see an update is ready and press "update". Then - ofcourse - the game deletes itself.

WHY?

Mind you, I have logged 400 hours in here, plus about the same in FG classic. I do not have this issue with anything else! Why does this keep happening?!

I have created exceptions and everything for all my securety-programs, so that is not in fact the problem here.

You mean that FGU is removed from your hard drive after updating?

Not exactly, FGU is removed instead of updating...

That certainly points to your anti virus. Does it quarantine FG? Do you see FG in the quarantined folder?

I have made exceptions, and no, they are not in quarantined folder. Actually, I knew this was going to be thing that got blamed so I went ahead and deleted my whole antivirus. The problem persisted.

I think you'll need to submit your log files. This isn't something that's normal so something on your system is interfering with the process.

Edit: I should have pointed you here so that you knew what I was talking about https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1242136781/How+to+Compile+Logs

If your operating system is Window then the default Windows security will kick in if you delete/remove a third party antivirus. Information here for Windows 10 (plus a link that should take you to the settings in Windows): https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/turn-windows-security-on-or-off-888b963f-8dde-7952-a2e7-a2301879472d

I am sorry for late response, but due to one guy getting covid the game session was cancelled. And I was so pissed on everything not working, so I just deleted everything (unfortunately before I saw this response). Tried to to reinstall now and it now seems to work fine again. Fortunately I backup my adventures after every game session, so nothing of importance lost.

However, with my luck this will happen again, so i will respond on this thread with log files next time I'm unlucky.

Oh, I hope your player gets well soon; all the best :)
