Ranged damage when rolled from the NPC Sheet is not typed as ranged while if rolled from the offense tab of the combat tracker is treated as ranged damage.
Test with Skeleton
The first damage roll is from the CT offense Tab. The second from the NPC sheet.

You are correct but does that matter particularly?

It probably matters if using certain effects like ATK: 2 ranged and such things :) (EDIT: Or a DMG effect because of context)

The attack is fine it's just the damage that doesn't get designated as [R]. I'm trying to remember if there is anything that deals extra ranged damage. Additionally if the creature isn't on the CT then any effects like that are moot; since they will only work if the creature is on the CT and has the effect applied to it.

Ah, yeah, my example was bad then; then I mean a similar DMG effect :D (of course only speaking of NPCs in the CT :) )

RAW FGU it doesn't as IMMUNE or RESIST doesn't accept [range] as a damage filter but that being said, why type it at all if it doesn't matter?. Extension wise yes it does matter but to be honest this is a minor corner case

Ah, I get where you are coming from. I don't have an answer but I assume that the code for attacks and damage is different when made from the CT rather than the NPC sheet.
