I used the official maps for a session last night, and one of my players couldn't see the map even when all characters were placed on the map. Everyone was in the initiative tracker, everyone is in the party. It isn't the first time this specific player has had issues with LOS; we started a new campaign because it was a widespread issue and I added a bunch of content (sucked it up and bought all the books for fantasy grounds). We did a bit of research and couldn't find anything, so I thought I'd air the question out to y'all who definitely have way more experience than I do.

What ruleset? What official map from what module/product? What extensions?

Is the player updated to the latest version? Is the host? Please post GM and player logs and we can then help figure out the resolution.

What character race, what system, ambient lighting, light sources or vision were correctly configured?

How do I find those logs?

D&D 5th edition, Human, I don't know how to check the rest of that.

Is there a light placed on the map? Or on one of the characters?

Humans won't be able to see anything by default without a light; while those races with darkvision will...

This post details how to get them; https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?68475-How-to-zip-up-your-campaign-if-the-Developers-ask-for-it

You may also want to zip up and attach your campaign, that way folks can test in your exact campaign etc.

I attached the file above. definitely need to add lights to maps, I didn't think about that, but it makes sense.

Yeah... now I feel dumb. I didn't place any lights and the player IS a human. I forgot that lighting was a mechanic in D&D for a minute. I just have to figure out how to add that to maps now...

Give the player a torch or a lantern. You don't need lights on the map necessarily. But if you do want to add lighting there are some videos here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?55797-How-do-I-in-Unity&p=492112#post492112 Numbers eightee

I went into the map editor and worked out everything. Thank you, I didn't know these options were so wide open; this really opens up future map-making for me

edit: Your videos have helped me in the past! I didn't make the connection until I saw the YouTube channel. Thanks for your informative content.
