View Full Version : WINDOWS 11 - Impossible to Solve Connection Problem

Hi there,

I rarely post something unless there's no other way for me to solve it. And this is the case right now.

So I have my desktop PC which I previously had with WINDOWS 10 installed on it and same I used to play FGU with absolutely no problem at all
I did a fresh install of Windows 11. And the only things I have installed are Discord, web browsers, all the drivers I need up-to-date and FGU

The problem persists:
I cant join a campaign. It gets infinitely stuck at "Acquiring file list."

Here are all the things I have already tried:

Join different campaigns.. and I cant.. so is not a 1 campaign specific problem
Disabled IPv6 in my ethernet adapter settings as someone here suggested it didn't work
Open ports in my router, fix my IP for this "new" pc with windows 11 it didn't work
Reinstall FGU deleting all files in App data and backup It didn't work
Tried in "public network" and in "private network" it didn't work
Of course I already let the program and the updater pass through firewall both in "public network" and in "private network" and it didn't work
Created advanced rules for the firewall it didn't work
Tried joining some campaigns with password and some without password that I have never joined before, it didn't work
Tried running as administrator it didn't work

No positiv results until now.
Here are the logs from both, my side (PLAYER) and the HOST side.

Hope someone can help me, thanks a lot

Do not disable IPv6
Do not set your network as Public

I just upgraded to Win 11 last week and have hosted a game that Brad joined successfully from another Win11 connection. I have both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled and a Private connection.

Here are some general networking steps for this network error. Another user reported a similar issue in April 2021 that they claimed was due to an ISP block on addresses. They got around it by using a VPN, but that seems like a work-around.

Since you recently upgraded to Windows 11, the first areas I would check are your local network settings and drivers. Then I would expand out to check to see if your ISP is blocking any traffic or if they have any security settings you can look into.

Summary of things I would do first:
1. Re-enable IPv6 and set your Network connection to Private
2. Reboot (seriously, this is something you should do between system changes)
3. Check to see if your network driver needs to be updated for Win 11
4. Remove and re-add any local firewall or anti-virus settings for Fantasy Grounds Unity
5. Re-test between steps.

Thanks a lot!

I just did everything from that link and did what you suggested and it worked.
I was able to join 4 random campaigns from random ppl in the FGU lobby with no problem (two of them were Damned and Zacch's campaigns).

I hate the random windows updates that set your network to public.
