So pretty new to D&D in general. We've only been playing since 2017 and have only played D&D 5e.

My hubby DMs a group. Since we have a little experience we have just begun to test out homebrew rules and classes. We're looking into a FGU account, but want to be able to use our homebrew rules. The major homebrew items are as follows:

How many spells you can have and which levels you can get them
Mana Points instead of Spell slots with a custom increment
Regaining Mana Points on short or long rest
Custom class - Enchanter
Mana dies (like hp dies) to regain mana on short or long rest
Custom encumbrance rules
Custom Feats
Spell Casting risks using spell level and a DC (can become exhusted, etc)

My searching on the forums here has lead me to believe this IS possible, however, I'm unclear as to how. Do I have to create a complete new CoreGame or can I use *most of the rules for D&D 5e? If I can somehow use D&D 5e as a base how do I change it?

THanks for you time!

Others will be along to help with rest of the list.

Meanwhile about the Custom Class, take a look at this thread. There is a couple of videos linked in that thread.

So you can do stuff like this either with or without extensions. Extensions allow you to change the automation and character sheet fields. But, you can workaround most any of it by either not using the automation, and just manually updating character sheets etc.

The DM and players can override any automating after the fact if desired Some of it might be annoying, like if a Long Rest is applied from the Combat Tracker, then all spell slots and hit points will be recovered, but that can be changed after the long is rest is applied. Or even better, the DM just doesn't apply the Long Rest using the automatic button. Instead just say it and then update character sheets appropriately.

I would suggest that you guys download the free demo. You won't be able to run a game with it, but you can create a campaign, characters, simulate combats and all the rest. While you are at it, take a free class or two www.fantasygroundscllege.net. It will get you up to speed much faster than poking around :)

I did see that site for FG College, albeit, I was a full day into searching so I was a little burnt out. I will check out that link. Thank you! :)
