Hello,

I have a weapon description:

Melee or Ranged Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage.

However, I have a statement in the adventure that there is a minimum damage. A damage of 1 is to be ignored. Can I represent this in the action description? I thought about a -1 to damage but it doesn't say that, rather it just cuts off damage at a minimum.

Thanks,
Jason

There is no minimum damage in 5e. The ruleset doesn't have any mechanism for ignoring any damage unless it is resisted in some way by the target. It's also unlikely that you'll ever do 1 damage if your modifier is +4. The least you'd do is 5 and resisted that would be 2 damage or zero if immune.

Thanks.

you can kind of simulate this by shifting the value of the bonus. so change:
Hit: 4 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage. which is a range of 5-10 to
Hit: 4 (1d5 + 5) piercing damage. which is a range of 6-10

This effectively makes the "1" value a 2. And even though its a 1d5 it should still roll as thats a valid dice string, but it wont show the animated dice since its not one of the regular die types (d4, d6, etc)

About about reroll? Not sure if you can do that in an NPC description, but you can add it to a PC weapon's action.
