Ancestries and Heritages Do i need a hook?

Hi! i just picked up the software to try for a game im going to be running soon but wanted to ask if i needed to purchase a book with a ancestry or some other way to create the hook so i can then create my own ancestry. So far i have only purchased chapter one of the adventure path i plan on running (Agents of edgewatch) but figured i would ask Thanks!

In theory you can enter your own information, but you really need examples to get an idea of what the format is. I recommend you pick up the Core Rules book - this will have most of the information needed to get started and will give you lots of examples of how to create ancestries, heritages, classes, feats, spells, items, etc..
