The biggest problem with automating Arcane Cascade is that the bonus damage type is dependent on the last spell cast. Is there a way of making the damage type some sort of variable, or do we just have to create a different version of the effect for every damage type?

You can add multiple effects, one for each type, as a DMGTYPE:type; This helps with Arcane Cascade and other situations you might want to change the dmg type. Other than that I wouldn't know.
