Hello.

I recently installed BigFonts. It seems to generally be working, but I have two questions.

1. Is this error message something I should be concerned about? If so, is there a solution?

2. Is there an options menu of any kind for BigFonts?

That error will need to be fixed by the extension developer, since TTF fonts are required for FG since last year.

Do you happen to know if the developer is on these forums so he/she/they can be informed?

I would start with how you acquired the extension. If it's through the forums then the post it was downloaded would be the best bet. If it's from the forge the user that created the extension would be listed.
