View Full Version : Problems with tokens on map

My group is having some problems with tokens on the maps during battles. They are unable to target the enemies, so they are just dropping them on the tokens in combat tracker which solves a bit of the problem. The other is that the DM client and the player client will show different placements of the tokens on the map. As DM, I am unable to move the tokens as well or accept moves, although I do see a green square on the map where the token should be after movement. I then click and drag the player tokens on the map from combat tracker on this green square I see, then the token is where it should be. But then the whole glitch starts all over again when the players try to move. Is anyone else having trouble in Savage Worlds with this issue? Thank you for any information you can provide.

I haven't seen anything like this.

Let's start with the basic stuff, so we know what you've tried so far:

Are you on FGU or Classic? Which savage rule set are you using? Are you running a purchased setting or adventure?

Are you sure you have the latest versions of FG and the rule set?

Are all the players on the same version of FG as you?

Did you try running with no extensions?

Can you provide screenshots and a log?

Did you plug it in?

Good questions...Classic...Swade...Not a purchased adventure, it's my own...yes, I have the latest version and SW ruleset...players have the same version as me...I have NOT tried running with no extensions, I will try that...I will provide a screenshot as soon as I get home from work...sorry, is what plugged in?...and thank you for the checklist!

Here is a screenshot of a script error I'm getting on the player's end.

I haven't used FG Classic. In FGU, you can create a log file. There's a "compile logs" button on the console which creates a zip file containing log files that help track down the bug. Does FGC have such a thing?

From the screenshot, it looks like an error in the SWADE rules. Ikael will be able to figure that out once he sees this.

The plugged in question was a reference to tech support questions: Is it plugged in? Is it turned on? Did you reboot? There was a time when users didn't get to the third question before the problem was discovered.

Are you, per chance, using the SWADE vehicle guide? Are you using vehicles at all? Are the trouble tokens character tokens?

Hey Mike, thanks for your replies. Yes, I am using the SWADE vehicle guide and using all sorts of vehicles. The problem is with vehicle and character tokens both. Thanks for helping me track down what this problem is, I really appreciate it.

I think this error is coming from the vehicle guide or how the SWADE rules interacts with it.

The next step for you is to supplicate Ikael, Holder of the Sacred Rules of SWADE, and Doswelk, Creator of Divine Content. The remedy lies somewhere between the two.

Providing as many details, screenshots, and logs as possible is a great way to supplicate them.

BTW, that's a nice background. It looks like an interesting setting.

Hi Mike, I will contact those guys and I appreciate the advice. I'll try closing the SWADE vehicle guide and see if it works any better. And thanks, the setting we're playing is Hell on Earth, but I really love to put in my own backgrounds.

Are the players tokens being 1st dragged onto the Combat Tracker and then dragged from there to the maps? Ignore this if you're already doing that. My reason for asking, is because if players are dragging their tokens from their character sheets to the desktop and then onto maps, FGC won't gauge their placement correctly. With one of the side effects being that they won't be able to correctly target NPC tokens by clicking them.

Yes, I am dragging the character tokens to the combat tracker and then on to the map from the GM side of things. Actually, I'm to understand that the character tokens must be placed in the party sheet and then added to combat tracker. Is this the right order to drag them?

They don't have to be in the party sheet before the combat tracker. The party sheet is used for adventure cards, giving party loot, setting marching order and watches, awarding advances and xp, things like that. If you don't use any of that, you needn't bother with the party sheet.

The party sheet also presents the list of available PCs for players to select from when logging in. They could still pick from the character list.

Hi Mike, I just thought that because there is an option in combat tracker to add list of PC's from party sheet, so I thought you had to do it that way. I will just try dragging them on without that, although I doubt that adding them from party sheet has anything to do with the problem. I did reach out to Ikael, but no response yet. He's undoubtedly busy, if he's the Yoda of this ruleset. :)

I had one player that had trouble targeting on the map yesterday as well (I had to target for them as the GM). I think there is a new update today - I'll watch for this myself.

Update the ruleset and try again. Such error line does not make any sense in the latest version. Maybe the issue has already been resolved. If not, then could you provide me step by step instructions how to reproduce this

Thanks, Ikael. There was also a problem with the manual roll feature not working right.

The fix and development version of v5.4.1 is now available in Test Mode. Could you give it a try to see if it is working for you?

I'm at work right now, but when I get home, I will and get back to you. Thanks, Ikael!

Hi Ikael. So to go into test mode, I see where you click settings and it gives you the option to pick test mode. Then do you just click update after that to go into test mode? That's what I did, but I don't know if I did it right. If that is the correct way to do it, then the faux roll is still not working right and the script error still pops up too.
