View Full Version : Very long loading time and lag

I have created a campaign which I use to create content for AD&D.
I've loaded all the adventure modules I've bought, as well as the 3 basic manuals, the class and race manuals (so, except for 4 or 5 modules) all official AD&D material found on the store).
Before the last update FGU would take 2 or 3 minutes to load, then the first time I opened a screen it would take a couple of seconds, but then everything would work without any delays.
After the last update it takes between 7 and 10 minutes of clock time to load the campaign, and practically every item I click takes a couple of seconds to open.
This doesn't seem normal to me.
Any suggestions on causes and possible solutions?
With FGC, just as a comparison, in a couple of minutes I load the campaign and I have no delays in opening menus, windows, items, etc..

Do you have that Open module in any Ruleset extension active? That's causes *everything* to load.
If after you load into your campaign you type /console in the chat window you can look at the load times to see what is happening. Look for the load times that start "MEASURE:" ie

If you wish you can post your log file like I did so we can see what is taking so long (for paranoia sake don't post your IP address). In this example it took 23.4688079 seconds total to load Part 1 which included loading the ruleset plus extensions and then building the various asset indexes.
In part two the actual open modules are loaded, in this case a large personal monster manual and some custom assets for almost 11 seconds.
So of the about 30 second load time - 1/3 was ruleset and extensions, 1/3 to build the asset indexes and another 1/3 to load the two open modules.
A 10 minute load is super long, I suspect you are loading so much information you are exceeding RAM and going into virtual memory, or you just have a ton of assets that have to be indexed.

I have installed very few extensions: dice color changer, encounter safari, gm icon.
My laptop is Asus G752VT, Intel core i7 6700 HQ, 32 gb ram.

Please upload your log files - generated from the compile logs button in the console window after loading the campaign that has the issue.
