View Full Version : Can you de-level?

At the end of a campaign, one of our PCs leveled up. After some quick consideration he decided he would rather multi-class at this new level instead. Is there a way to de-level (un-level?) a character to go back a level and re-do a level?

I don't know of a method.

If no one else knows a way, it might be easier to start a new character and level it up to the prior level rather than try to remove all the changes and forget one or two. Depends what level/class you are. Most of the info will be drag-and-drop from one char to the other.

There is no automatic way to remove a level; so as Three of Swords says it needs to be done manually.

I was afraid of that. Ugh. Ok, thanks for the info!

One thing you could try is this.

1. Back up your campaign folder
2. Create a new campaign and then exit
3. In the copy campaign rename the file db.xml to dbold.xml
4. In the copy campaign folder you'll find various db.session.xml files. Pick one that's fairly recent - but not the most recent. Rename it to db.xml
5. Copy that file into the campaign you created in step 2 above (overwriting the existing one)
6. Now start that campaign and you should find the character in there with its original level.
7. Start you proper campaign and go to the PC tab and then import. Import the character from the campaign you created in step 2

Hmmm, ok, thanks for an outside the box suggestion. We'll get it sorted out one way or another.

Lowering a level by hand is not that much of a hassle. Decrease the level number, adjust the hitpoints. Remove any added features like traits, abilities and actions. Check any features which are dependent on class level, ate they still correct?
