Tokens and layers

I have a village map as the base layer and have added a first level layer, which is a PNG map with a transparent alpha layer. I can turn the upper layer off to see the lower layer and it all seems to work fine *except* that PC/NPC tokens seem to be above all layers. A PC token enters the lower level of a building but appears on the upper level when its layer is displayed.

Long story, short: can tokens be 'tied/linked' to layers on an image/map?

Nope.

Though you can add token images as stamps via assets and place them in layers. But those are not linked to CT objects and can not be moved by players.
