View Full Version : Minor yet annoying issue with FGU

It works now (and I still love lordentrails for helping me last time), and a new issue popped up. Every 5 minutes (yes, I timed it), FGU freezes and hangs up, task manager says "not responding". It stays like that for about 20-40 seconds, and if I leave it be it resumes working. Though it's annoying as hell, I still can go on and play but drawing walls and the like can get pretty nasty if I don't keep my eyes on the clock (if it hangs while I'm drawing a line I end up with random lines scattering around).
Any ideas? (i still think I can run games but I haven't hosted a game on FGU yet).
I might think about something about autosaving, dunno if it saves things every 5 minutes or not anyway.

Auto save occurs every 5 minutes, and you can’t change that. How big is the directory for the campaign you’re using? Does it only occur when you’re working on LoS?

6.33 gb... it's very, very big since I'm working on it since 2015 or so (just the images folder weights for almost 6 gb)

That is certainly a biiiiig size, no wonder that it takes a bit to save all of that :)
You may want to reduce the size; maybe start a new campaign and just import the things you need right now :) If you do not already do it like that: Put all your stuff in custom modules, especially more than one, sort it somehow. If you do not need something anymore, then unload it :) Starting fresh may be the easiest solution though (but difficult to say without knowing your campaign and stuff you need) :)

Mhm, I have no idea how to create a custom module tho, but I think it might be a good idea somehow

Here is a good guide (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?33538-Adventure-Module-Creation-Best-Practices).
It's about adventure modules, but the principle is the same.

In your case you may want to write /export in your current campaign, then export everything you certainly need :)
Start a new campaign and then load this module, and run your current game in this campaign instead :)
(that is the quick and dirty method)
Also import the characters into this new campaign of course :)
