View Full Version : Moving images into campaign assets

So, I'm running PF's Curse of the Crimson Throne, and I am creating a player map of the city and updating it with links of the places they've been and images of the NPCs they've met. Everything was going swimmingly until I tried sharing links to images of the NPCs. When I test the link to the NPC image in my localhost session it informs me I need to activate the module that has the image (Chapter 4 of the campaign). I would rather not provide the players with access to the campaign module, and I don't want them to have to load multiple modules since the images will be coming from all over the campaign modules.

No prob, I thought. I watched Zacchaeus' video on importing images into the campaign assets folder, but I can't seem to get it to work. When I open an image from the Chapter 4 module, for example, and then Create Image Record, I do not get a copy of the image in my Campaign assets (even after refreshing). Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. How do I get an image from an existing module into my campaign assets so I can link them to my players' map without having to share all the campaign modules with them?

Thanks!

*Just to clarify, since I'm probably not explaining myself well, I know how to export external images into the campaign. What I'm trying to do is take an image from a chapter (module?) already within the campaign and viewable in the image assets and create a copy in the campaign assets folder so it can be shared more easily.*

You can't import an image that's already in your campaign or that is in a module. Additionally if you link something from a module to an image (or anything else) then to use that link the image or asset will also have to be shared with your players.

So you should be able to share your map just fine in the usual way; but any images that you link to that map will also need to be shared with your players. So if you share Map A and have Image B pinned to the map as long as you share map A and image B with your players the link will work for them.

Oh, and you'll also need to right click on the pin on the map and make it shareable (it will turn green) otherwise the pin won't even be visible to the players.

Yes, the player map shares fine and I figured out I needed to share the pins on the map. But I just went ahead and tried sharing the image (which does make it automatically pop up on the localhost session). But if I close that image and open up the pin on the player map the image link doesn't even show.

I don't think this is an essential problem to solve. There doesn't seem to be a quick and easy fix, so I'll just leave out the NPC images since they can still access the map and pull up the pins I've shared.

Thanks for the response!

Just to be clear, you are opening the image from the images list in the campaign and then dragging the link icon on the open image and dropping it onto the map. Then you are sharing the pin and then sharing the map and the pinned image?

Ah ha! Success! I must have done something out of order because following that step by step worked. Thanks Zacchaeus - another "crisis" solved!

I spoke too soon. Apparently the images that were working came from a loaded module on the player's side. Here's what I do, as seen in the following screen grabs:

*Capture1* (DM side)
1. Open up the image list
2. Open the applicable image
3. Drag and drop the link from the image over to the map entry
4. Share the location pin
5. Share the map

*Capture2* (Player side)
1. Clink on the location pin
2. Clink on the image link in the map
3. Cry

You forgot step 4.5 Share the image

Fantastic - thank you for catching that!
