So, I installed the game through steam. Steam installed a launcher that installed FGUpdater...
Then, I was prompted for a place to install the game, again.

All my games are on drive d:\games\xxx\yyy
xxx being a sub-directory for gog.com, steam, battle.net etc.
yyy being the directory of the game.

So, I chose d:\games and assumed it would create a sub directory. I didn't. I should have in my opinion.
So, I chose to uninstall it, and retry.
There were now two entries in my Windows 10 Apps folder. One for the steam installed launcher, and for the FGUpdater (but no real distinction in my eyes).
I uninstalled both.

Without any proper warning the Program then deleted all files and directories in d:\games\
So, I have to re-download every game. Gladly there were no files there were irreplacable, like let's say custom WoW Add-ins. Oh, wait, there were, but they were my ex-girlfriends.

Still, what the hell.
Uninstalling should delete files and directories of the software allone and if installed to a non-empty folder, it should seriously warn in big red letters...

Welcome Heinrich

Its a fair point but also still not straightforward.
FG files are installed from many sources - the FG store, the Steam download and then data and extensions and mods that people upload manually.
The game wont know about these so it uninstalls its whole data path.

It is a nasty event in your case for sure.

We do have a fix coming for this situation; but I was checking with our new installer/updater developer on timelines. The incorrect behavior was created by a previous developer no longer with us.

I think we'll have an updated installer available soon. It has been gated by some of the work we are doing around building the upcoming Community Forge project.
