I've had to implement a terrain Line of sight that can't be moved through by placing a window LoS feature round it. Is there a simpler way? In the images below, the effect I want is that I can see the statues and pillars, they cast shadows, but can't be moved through.

You solution looks like the right one given what you want to achieve.

It has the unfortunate side effect that when the player hovers the mouse over the statue/pillar he gets the open/close dialog/effect for the window.
It would be nice if they could implement an "object" line of sight feature in addition to the others: wall, terrain, window etc.

Well, it is little knowned.that you can create untoggable window LoS now. Just click on that little switch before placing your window lines and it should do the trick!
And for your shadows, just add a shadow occluder and you're good to go!

@Khoredran, thanks for the toggle tip, that makes it better. Still not quite right though as the shadow occluder doesn't seem to work with with Darkvision. I want the object/feature to occlude line of sight beyond it. It does work nicely with terrain type though. Still, would be nice to have the effect using a single LoS type rather than combining two.

Darkvision is still experimental.

They get a thumbs up from me for what they have done with line of sight and lighting, it's awesome! Just a few tweaks needed to make it perfect :). I've even been able to add a custom Flame Tongue to the Lights Presets on the Effects dialog, via Token Lights on the Options dialog.
