View Full Version : Adventure deck in FGU with SWADE ruleset not working correctly

Tried support, they pointed me here.
I purchased the Adventure deck recently, already had the SWADE. Using the ETU (purchased) and NPC on the fly Extensions. When I load the campaign I have the "Feature: Adventure Deck" selected (see "load.PNG"). I went into Libary->Modules and made sure to load and share (see "modules.PNG"). When I go under options there isn't the option to filter as shown in the documentation for this module (see "Options.PNG"). There is also no Adventure Deck Tool, as shown in the Documentation. I do notice that for some reason in my order summary there is a green "Gift Order" button, where none of the others do. I'm not sure if that is the issue or not.

I don't see a tool either, but if I go into the party sheet, there's a reset Adventure deck option which deals adventure cards to the party. I think with the graphical update some of the older things don't work the same.

I dont play SaWo but in options click Sidebar and see if the Adventure Deck tool is listed there.

I didn't see it in my sidebar options. I think it's a Party Sheet thing...you start the session and then you deal out Adventure cards...the characters have an Adventure Card tab which they can see their cards.

Have yo tried without the NPC on the fly Extension?
I use the Adventure deck all the time (without that extension) without problems.

Just curious...is there some gui interface to it? All I could find was the reset adventure card in party sheet. I also saw an adventure card tab on the character sheet. I think the original poster was expecting to see a deck somewhere
Hmmm...I don't think I looked at the desktop tools (or whatever it's called)

Cool...thanks. I didn't see that. Under options do you have a way to filter the deck, or is there any way to curate it that you know of?

Thanks...one of the first thing I tried (out of 20 or so). Be nice if the documentation was correct.

Yes, based on the documentation (which admittedly was clearly for deluxe, but they had no separate SWADE doc or section), there they call out a deck and a filter under options to sort out specific types of adventure cards that aren't appropriate for your campaign. The party sheet mechanic works for the deck, but I would still like to pull some cards either through a filter for the type, or manually.

Ok, I just loaded up again. The deck is there in Tools...you might just have to stretch the window a bit and turn it on in options to have it appear on the desktop. That said, there doesn't look to be anything you can do with it other than shuffle it. You can't draw cards from it that I can see. You just can assign cards from it to the players on the party sheet
Edit: I take that back, I can drag from it on the desktop to a character...I can't open it like the other deck, but I could award another adventure card from it

Perfect. Thanks IceBear. I guess I can deal with the whole "don't want some cards to be in play" thing, by manually handing them a second card this way.

I haven't really used the Adventure Deck, but I know Doswelk does so maybe he's aware of some "tricks" in that regard. Since it's a bought module I doubt it's editable to remove cards that you don't want.

If you're not opposed to editing XML, it's possible to make a custom version. Extract the extension and remove the unwanted cards. My campaign is no magic, so I removed all the powers cards this way.

Ah....I was wondering if it was editable or not. I had just assumed the file was locked like the ruleset. Good to know it's not

I actually misspoke. Writing that comment reminded me I missed one card that came up last session, so I went to take care of that..
It's not an XML file. It's a lua file, called adventuredeck.lua. I turned the cards I wanted removed into comments so they are ignored. This is done by adding two dashes at the start of the line like this.

If you open Library from the right button menu you can select SWADE adventure deck. It lists the documentation on it as well as all the cards in the deck. You can drag the cards (using their buttons) to chat, players, and character sheet Adv Cards tab. You can also single click on the card to have them display in a popup. If shared, the players can view them too. That list is sorted and can be searched.

Unfortunately the documentation is 9 years out of date. It's never been updated so it only covers Savage Worlds Deluxe on Fantasy Grounds Classic version 2.9. I'm using Unity, but I think the current FGC version 3.3 which changed quite a bit of things from version 2.
Because the documentation is so outdated, it was faster for me to extract the mod and read every file myself to figure out how it works.
I doubt the documentation will ever be updated at this point. They should just remove it from the module.

I get the odd beahviour, that adventure cards don't show correctly for my players.
I myself as GM can see the images and text of them , but players get either tisted, broken or no image when double klicking the card to enlarge it/view it.
Reinstalling did not fix this issue.

I made an extension for a deadlands campaign but I haven't figured out how to make the associated module so that you can see the larger version of the cards.

They have to open the module which you will have had to make available for player download.
