Hi
I have search and tested how to write an action for a NPC that have a weapon that deals ongoing damage for x turns. But I can not get the combat tracker to pharse the number of turns.
This is how it looks right now:
Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 40. Hit: Target takes 1d4 piercing damage, The target takes 1d10 poison damage at the start of each of its turns for 5 turns
The CT set this up with duration 0

I don't think there is a way to word it such that the ongoing damage will expire after a number of turns. You can in some cases get a limit by using wording such as 'the target is poisoned for 1 minute' or 'the target is poisoned for 5 turns'. But the ongoing damage one doesn't seem to work that way.

Ok, tanks.
Just setting the duration manually then

From the wiki/manual: DMGO (D) (damage type)
Not sure if this will work for NPC effect however.

Yes, that works. The OP wants wording that will limit the number of turns however and that's the bit that doesn't work.

I tried to write DMGO 1d10 poison into the NPC data. With colon, komma and dots in different positions but could not get that working.
Note that I did not enter this into the CT but into the NPC data.
When I entered "Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 40. Hit: Target takes 1d4 piercing damage, The target takes 1d10 poison damage at the start of each of its turns for 5 turns"
it did pharse that into the CT with the DMGO etc.
But I can manage to enter the duration manually as it does not happen so often.

Yes you need to enter text into the NPC and then FGH tries to translate that into an effect. Adding the effect directly won't work. This extension might be useful if you are doing this kind of thing with NPCs a lot https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?40833-5E-Advanced-Effects-(items-npcs-characters)
