Do we know if Smiteworks will be releasing an official copy of the Barbarian Handbook for use in 2e game play....?

I don't believe it is planned at the present time, that said, perhaps someone will decide to put the work in (I would also buy it).

Yeah, went on Ebay and they have the handbook but it is selling for around $60-75. Would be nice to find one more affordable...lol

Hopefully someone will produce it for the Store

Outside of building kits in Character Generation, is there any need in getting this books. Can we create the kits on our own if we have the books in hard copy?

You can make any kit/class you've a desire to ;) General things are fairly simple ... specialty classes with various features might be harder. I would look at the class/kits that exist in the PHB and general handbooks for examples on how to create them.

When you mention general handbooks, I am assuming that your referencing Wizard, Fighter, etc., Handbooks? Can someone provide a photo of what one of these kits look like as I do not have any so have no idea what goes into it....sorry for the big noob question

I created the Barbarian Ravager for one of my Players, took me about an hour.
First i made a copy of the Fighter and changed HD & XP needed for the Barbarian.
Then i created the Kit and copied the specs from my pdf.
Kits are in the various “Complete...“ books, not in the PHB.
Just take a look at an existing Class/Kit from one of the other books, especially the entries in the various tabs.
It's basically the same structure for each class and once you've figured that out it's only copy/paste.
I advise creating a new campaign for that. So you can export your stuff into a .mod and use it in every other campaign.

Ok, I will grab one of the hand books so I can see what it looks like. I have the physical books, just do not have them for FG so I have no idea on how it is suppose to look within the VTT under the Kits tab.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm setting up a barbarian ravager for one of my players (in an attempt to transpose his 5e character into a 2e equivalent), and I'm trying to create an effect to automate the effects of raging, but I'm struggling with a conditional that can check the AC to ensure it is not improved beyond zero. I'll admit I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to effects, although the basics are really easy to implement (thanks, coders, your efforts are really appreciated here!). I've tried some variations using the IF: command to no effect. Is it possible to make a conditional check of AC?

There is no way to automate setting ac but only if it's at a certain threshold through effects.

The Barbarian Fighter's advancement page doesn't have any of the abilities on it, so it doesn't add them to the character. Its missing things like the Fighter HP bonus, weapon specialization, adding the climbing and back detection skills, etc.

Hi mate,

well spotted, apologies for this, i added them in the general tabs but forgot to put them into Features too. I also updated the Shaman as well and made some typo correction while i was there (the original PDF i worked on was dreadful...). I ll get the updated version ASAP.

you are welcome, BTW as per weapon specialisation, i can t find anything in the book to give it to barbarian fighter...so can t really add it (unless i missed that information, then feel free to correct me)

I did some digging about it and found a 10 years old discussion on the dragonsfoot forums, the opinions are split...

i leave it to you to house rule it or not.

Hi, I just bought the 'Complete Barbarian's Handbook' and my quick thoughts about the conversion.
• In the left panel of the 'Modules' window ('Menus' > 'Library' > 'Modules Window'), all 'Complete ___'s Handbooks' I own on Fantasy Ground Unity are put in the 'Handbook' category, but sadly this one is put in the 'Accessories' category.

• In the right panel of this 'Modules' window, why a generic 'Story' section instead of a 'Reference manual' section (and its specific layout)?
• Update: The 'Complete Barbarian's Handbook' is missing on the 'Books' section of the main window (because it's not a reference manual, i suppose?).

Hi and welcome to the forum,

thank you for your feedback

1. i ve never noticed that the other handbooks were in the handbook category... as far as i know there are only 3 categories, Adventures, accessories any box sets... so i picked Accessories... but i am happy to change it to handbook for the sake of consistency

2. that s very odd but i agree with you...i ll look into that and correct it.

To go along with that, the Complete Humanoid book also has a "story reference" and is in another separate category from the handbooks and Complete Barbarian. I understand you did the work to convert that one as well. Could that get fixed up as well? Thanks!

I was using the Barbarian Handbook a couple of days ago and noticed there is no Reference Manual link in it. I'm wondering if your update back in the summer was applied.

the .mod i uploaded in JUL 22 has it... but i agree the DLC does not...i ll contact SW

I did not notice cause i kept the .mod in my modules folder which seems to be overriding SW module...

The last update should have fixed it, judging by the update notes, but at least for me there is still no reference manual.

well if i test the .mod file i created end of JUN 22 and sent to SW in JUL 22... it s working...but i agree if i start a new campaign (after deleting my .mod file) the reference manual does not appear...not sure what to do... i can reupload everything to SW and see how it goes? Sorry for the inconvenience.

When creating a Barbarian Shaman it gives the sheet 4 weapon proficiencies and 8 nonweapon proficiencies when it should be 2 and 4. Trivial to adjust myself, but it also gives 2 to each at the appropriate level ups for gaining new proficiencies. So at level 3 it gives 2 more to nonweapon and at level 4 it adds 2 more to weapon.
Barbarian Fighter acts properly at 4 and 3

Hi Scoot,

thank for reporting it. I believe it has been fixed and will push the updated version. (long story short, i doubled up the bonuses by setting up proficiencies in 2 places, at a class level and at each level progression). Why did i do it this way for the Shaman and not the Fighter... no idea.

Thanks Ready. I'm curious when these fixes get deployed. I know with extensions they can be pushed at any time, but how does it work with official modules?
Unless 'm mistaken, I can do this locally for the time being by simply removing the initial values from the level one entry (attached image)

Ps. I found a few other typo's - should i just compile and list the stuff here?

please feel free to post them, the PDF was dreadful to deal with and after 5 days straight full time on it (Covid isolation) i might have overlook few things.

as per your picture. It s one or the other, not both (unless needed) as i initially did, the updated version should come out on Tuesday this week or next worse case scenario.
