Orr just put theirs out a couple of days also, I VASTLY trust the figures that Doug shares over Roll20's though.

Haven't seen that one yet, but for the last year or two (since the nolant episode) their numbers are all relative and pretty useless except to know the percentage of their base that play a given system, sort of.

That's amazing growth (edit) last year.

Are we allowed to know what the minimum session time is to count?
ddavison
February 23rd, 2021, 22:37
I believe it is 15 mins.

I mean, I knew 5E was the juggernaut in the space, but holy cow. Exciting to see the growth for Fantasy Grounds.

I am surprised you included the monthly numbers for unlicensed Shadowrun but not licensed Traveller.

I am surprised you included the monthly numbers for unlicensed Shadowrun but not licensed Traveller.
Wouldn't that just indicate it's outside the Top 20?
Edit: actually after looking at it again, Traveler is included, but not Shadowrun. So I'm confused what you're saying.

esmdev meant here. I'm sure it was just an oversight/mistake.

Sorry, that was a miss-click on my part. I can easily select "Top 20" for a chart, but I don't have a way to select Top 20 and exclude 5E. I have to manually select those Top rulesets. It should be fixed now.

We can certainly see the impact of the Pandemic on “working” from home.

I favor 5e for my games and knew it was the most popular but man didn't think it was 70%....60% would have been my guess at max.

Notice how D&D with all it's versions and derivatives are like 85% of the useage.
The thing that impressed me, and was nice to see - was how well Starfinder was doing, space games have historically done very poorly.

Granted the pandemic made me first look into VTTs, but as in other computer games I have some local people I play with and some far distant ones. I don't think in terms of D&D I will be giving it up when the pandemic ends.
Nor do I think a lot of others will who play with non local players. Those numbers may not stay as high but they will not go back down to when they were low either.

Any chance of getting an update for this?
I also noticed their is no index page for the "reports" url. So as you build more reports, there is not an easy way to find or see them all.

Wow, I knew 5E was a big part of people who play FG, but i am stunned by the numbers

I second this. I posted about finding a feature comparison chart here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?70686-Feature-comparison-chart-for-VTTs). This and the feature comparison chart go a long way to letting people discuss the virtues of Fantasy Grounds based on some data to go with all of our anecdotal experience.

Star Wars included all the variants. The numbers are low enough that they would be too small individually.

What about Star Trek? Or are the numbers much lower than SW?

Feature discussions in private are good, however, a public in almost any forum, discussions usually turn into a big opinion battle and it devolves into a bunch of arguing senselessly over a game.
Here is a very decent comparison article from this group in the FG Forums. While we can call most VTT's fruit, it is hard to compare feature vs feature unless you just throw things into loose comparison types, which does not tell anyone much.

To recap...
1. Feature discussions in public result in arguments.
2. Here is an article presenting the author's opinion on comparing features from three VTTs.
We are being trolled! :p
I commend anyone for taking the time to put their thoughts together like that. More people doing that would make the world a better place. Way to go HywellPhillips.
My support in this thread is for Smiteworks to update their stats! Nylanfs even notes that Roll20 has updated info available.
My support in the other thread discussing the feature comparison chart (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?70686-Feature-comparison-chart-for-VTTs) is for Smiteworks to update the chart they used to have posted on this site. I also ask in the other thread for anyone to point me to a feature comparison chart. So, I am obviously happy to get the links one way or another.
More information is better than less information.

LordEntrails, thank you.
That first link is the chart I was talking about that Smiteworks had on the site. I guess it is still available they just don't have a link to it anywhere I can find. These kinds of resources are great for discussing VTTs with folks. The fact that they all have their biases and errors is fine.
Nobody who has ever made a statement can claim to be error or bias free!

Note that the chart is a bit outdated in that it is comparing FG classic, not the current version - FG unity.
