I decided to jump on the 5e bandwagon, extremely late but I feel it is time for some change. 100 USD down and I am happy owner of the core rules and LoTM module. I really love the conversion but I wonder if the goblin ambush map is missing from the module or the one I see on various streams and on Internet is actually fan-made one.

It's fan made. The module doesn't actually come with one for several of the encounters (pretty common).
Though no one in the community did that one, when/if you get to the other modules, check out the second post in this thread; https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?60070-Community-Maps-Resource-Links

Lost Mine was an introduction to D&D for many people and they (Wizards of the Coast) specifically chose to omit several maps to show people that you can run encounters in a theater of the mind style in addition to running encounters on maps. That said, a lot of GMs and players want maps for every encounter or combat.

I want maps because they save a lot of time. I can understand why publishers don't provide this most of the time :) For me, the benefit is consistency and less hours spent prepping. For Deadlands I have to search for map in proper or similar style to the others to have good consistency in my games and it is big time sink.
But this first module is great, I am excited about it and look forward to run it. Very good conversion.

Heroic Maps have nice maps for the missing encounters. Many other makers do really great ones too, but I'm a big fan of Heroic Maps (I actually used their Goblin Hideout rather than the official Schley map, even though I'm a huge fan of his work too).
I don't know if I can post links to DrivethruRPG here, or not, so look up Heroic Maps 'Foxtail Hills' and 'Foxtail Moors' sets there.
Hope this was some help.
Cheers,
Simon

Sure, you can post links. We only ask that 'commercial' posts be put in the https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?111-Paid-Creations sub-forum. But that's for folks advertising their own stuff. Helpful links (even to commercial products) is fine.

If you have time you can check the subreddits
/Dnd maps
/Battlemaps.
I found decent maps for the triboar trail and the sleeping giant tavern. I seem to have lost the map of the road but i can share the sleeping giant map if you like.
Cheers!

Sweet, thank you for the links guys! Heroic Maps are definitely a product line I really like and own a few, though the price is quite steep for single map.
