View Full Version : Unity Crashing when re-sizing images

Hi everyone, im a big fan, and unity is great.

HOWEVER

the program is crashing when i try to resize images, and i lose some of my prep.

and i still get the 'fantasy grounds is not responding' thing happening a lot (running on win 10, nothing special about my setup) and its very frustrating when i can play eve online with 5000 other people, but i cant push a pic to 5 people or load my token without a 30 second delay.

anyway like i say im a big fan and once you get this nailed its going to rock.

Please collect the FGU logs after a crash and post them here.

Is it one specific image that causes the crash? If so, how big is it - pixel size and file size?

hiya, no, it can be any image. and its intermittent...
it seems to work ok for a bit, especially if i have a lot of images open then it flashes grey as it resizes, then i know its going to crash. its happened with pics ive imported, as well as pre made pics (im running princes of the apocalyspe right now), so i dont think its anything to do with it being too hi res or anything. fortunately its never happened during a game, but its a pain in the arse when im doing prep.

first i got a warning saying 'virtual alloc remapping failed'
then it froze up and crashed
i hope this is the log you mean.

To collect the logs:

1) Start FGU
2) On the main startup page, click the three horizontal bars button in the top left (to the left of the folder icon).
3) This opens the console window, click the "Compile Logs" button.
4) This will create a fgu_logs ZIP file - explorer should open at the location of the file.
5) Please upload that ZIP file here.

I'm not seeing anything in the logs; so I don't think it's "crashing" necessarily. It sounds like it's going into an intensive or endless loop.

Can you provide your campaign folder zipped up, any custom images you are using, and the steps to see the issue you are seeing?
(If large, please post the campaign and images on a file sharing site, like DropBox or Google Drive.)

Can you also provide the exact steps you are following from campaign startup through the lockup? (Which windows opened exactly, etc.)

hi, not really, i have FG up all day while i do bits of prep, and it happens after a couple of hours, when i normally have lots of windows open, and its a different pic every time. if and when it happens again ill post the logs

hi , it happened again, white screen, fantasy grounds is not responding, i had to force quit (it wasnt hanging i left it for about 10 min)

hope you can make something of this

You wrote somewhen about a virtual allocation error; hence, how much system RAM do you have?

It looks like the textures stop being able to be created.
How many files are in your FG data folder under the tokens and images folder; as well as how big all the files are?

since unity i seem to have 2 or 3 different locations but some are empty... hope this is right

Appdata/ roaming/ smiteworks/ fantasy grounds/ campaigns/ Temple of elemental evil POTA/ TOKENS: 22 files, 1.76MB IMAGES: 61 files, 19.0MB PORTRAITS: 139files, 5 folders, 33.3MB

bear in mind i also have all the module tokens and images floating around somewhere... i imagine they are big files as i have at least one campaign (pota) and all of the supplements open (phb, dmg, volos, etc etc)
if that was the wrong file path tell where to go... thx!

That doesn't seem like a very high amount; but that's only the campaign.

Do you have any files in any of the below locations?
AppData/Roaming/SmiteWorks/Fantasy Grounds/images/
AppData/Roaming/SmiteWorks/Fantasy Grounds/tokens/
AppData/Roaming/SmiteWorks/Fantasy Grounds/portraits/

We may need to get a copy of your campaign to see if we can recreate.

TOKENS 0 FILES 0 MB
PORTRAITS has 238files, 21.1MB

if you need my campaign file again, just shout, but i didnt want to leave googledrive links up indefinately

You can send me PM with campaign folder if you don't want to post publicly.

However, based on some other reports I've received, I want to clarify what you mean by "resizing". Are you talking about using the "Send to Background" button in the image window which sends to a background panel?

hi, no i mean importing an image and sizing the frame so there isnt grey on the edges. not thing to do with setting the background
