View Full Version : What happened with the layout? And lots of bugs!

I just updated the system and everything changed in the layout, what happened? Did the sidebar icons just become text? How do I put the icons back? And the character sheets, did the buttons change? And the list of modules? For God's sake, everything is horrible! How do I get back to how I was before? There are several errors in the LOG, each time I click on a character's sheet an error appears in the LOG. Please tell me you are going to fix this ... I want my FGU back as it was! :cry:

Thanks for the clarification ... I'm really upset, I have a skin that I bought at DM's Guild with very beautiful icons, none of which appears now. Instead of changing the layout, why not to implement useful features to the program? Two of the main extensions I use, Current HP and Death Indicators, no longer work - why not program these features then? I mean, they could be native to the program, without the need for extension. Another thing that gets in the way is the slowness, when we use big maps LOS makes everything freeze. I'm running Dungeon of the Mad Mage module for 5e and it's a nightmare, even disabling LOS and using the fog of war system, everything is slow, players can't move the tokens. I had to release the view of the entire map so we could play. Today we have a section, I will test to see if the problems of slowness have improved, at least, I give up the beautiful layout if in return I can play without lag.

Make sure you have the latest versions of the extensions you use. I believe those two have been updated to work with the latest version of FG.

Slowness may well be down to your and your players internet connections. My internet upload is like treacle but I didn't have too many issues with DotMM.

They are working on improving FGU all the time - and this step, while it messes with the pretty pictures, is part of changing Unity so its not Classic any more. Also, I am sure there is a way to implement the images again, has to be done ruleset specific. Contact the theme creator and ask them to update it.

Thanks Zacchaeus! All of your extensions are working well by the way. I'm an old customer hehe ... I've updated Death Indicators too, it's ok, but Current HP still doesn't work. Soon they should fix it. With regard to slowness, it cannot be the internet connection, my connection is fiber optic, extremely fast. My computer is also of the latest generation, I work with games and 3d software development ... I believe the problem is optimization, I already opened a topic about it here, but that's fine. I am waiting for the update of LOS and lights, promised for this month, I am looking forward to it. Thanks for the support!

The author of the theme can still include large icons, it's just not the default layout anymore. If you purchased it from DMs Guild, have you checked to see if they created an updated version? If they haven't you could ask them to. It's not Smitework's responsibility to maintain 3rd party software.


Instead of changing the layout, why not to implement useful features to the program?

UI updates are one of the most requested features by long time users of the software, I imagine that's part of the reason they're working on it. I think many people would disagree that they aren't "useful features." Have you checked to see if the extensions you use have been updated to work with the most recent version? (I just did a quick search of the forums and found free extensions that have been updated to be working on the current version for both "Current HP" and "Death Indicators")

Try this setting in the chat window its not listed in the / commands, its works for me.
/vsync 2

It forces 30 fps, not only does it improve GPU it also improves CPU usage a bit, it is persistent so you only need to type it once.
All your group should do this.
To put it back to the default type
/vsync 0

Yes I agree, we had to cancel our game because there was no way to target in the CT. They implemented the new menu months ago and I have to tell FGU I don't want to use every time I login, no way to turn it off. I'm pretty sure its text only. Now they want to force the issue on the sidebar.

Just to clarify, /vsync 1 is the default. (which tells Unity game engine and OS to synchronize frame rate to monitor refresh rate).

The other options are: /vsync 0 (set to fixed 60 fps); /vsync 2 (frame rate = 1/2 monitor rate); /vsync 3 (frame rate = 1/3 monitor rate); /vsync 4 (frame rate = 1/4 monitor rate)

Also, please note that many graphics driver control panels allow you to override the default frame rate for applications which will ignore these settings; so make sure that you leave FG specifically as the Application Default.

Thank you so much for this tidbit of info. Just tried and went from 100% cpu usage with 5 images shown to 45%. This is awesome advice.

Quick question... I'm using a Cyberpunk 2020 extension which is really buggy now that the new update was released. Most of it is workable but my big issue is that the Assets button doesn't work now. Does anybody know of a way to access tokens or assign tokens to an NPC by bypassing the Assets button?

No, it will need to be accessed through that button. I would suggest updating MoreCore and Cyberpunk2020 from the threads if the updates are available. If not, then you'll have to wait for the dev(s) to get those updated.

Is there a system way to add Icons back to the sidebar so its not just text or at the very least allow the change in its size.

It will require coding up an extension to disabling the new sidebar and adding hold icons back. Also the old sidebar icons were removed from most of the rulesets so you'd have to create new ones.

I receive this error every time someone roll a dice to attack:

Think you are using an extension that is referring to ActorManager2 which was changed. You need to figure out which extension...turn them off and back on one at a time to figure out which one and then see if there's an update

If you've turned off every extension then you probably have a ruleset that hasn't been updated. What ruleset are you using? And do you have an unpacked directory for that in the rulesets directory?

Now that's ok!

The problem was the Automatic Sneak Attack extension.

That and most of the automatic extensions have been updated already on DMs Guild.
