Show GM Rolls

So at the moment, players can see each others dice as they are rolled, is there a way to show the players the dice the GM rolls? I know you can show the GM's roll results but I'm talking specifically about the 3D dice, the GM's rolls are always shadow dice.

You'd think that the Show GM Rolls option would show exactly that, but sadly it does not.

Yeah, I though it would, it shows the results, but it doesn't actually show the rolls unfortunately.

It used to work like that on FGC, perhaps it still does. The shadow only dice only came with FGU, so maybe we could formally ask them to return it to the way it was?

I know there are a lot more important things but this is by far my number one most requested feature. Thought I would hate it in classic but the entire group loved seeing the dm's dice rolls and cheering or gasping as it teetered between 1 and 19. The fact they can't see the dm's dice comes up at least once a week now since we got so used to seeing it in classic. Everyone is sad for a moment and then we move on. Please, if there is any way to make it so there is a toggle to let the players see the dm's dice, make it happen! This is my vote to formally ask them to return it to the way it was.

It used to work like that on FGC, perhaps it still does. The shadow only dice only came with FGU, so maybe we could formally ask them to return it to the way it was?

Also in FGC you can never see the rolling DM dice, only shadows :) What first happened in FGU was that players couldn't see the rolling dice of other players as in FGC, but that got already changed :)

The option about showing GM rolls was always about the posted results in the chat

Working as designed and coded...I think the ask is the OPTION to allow those rolls to be seen openly...

I can say with 100% certainty you could set an option in classic so the players could see the DM's dice rolling with numbers and dice color, settling on a particular number. Everyone would cheer or gasp as it teetered between 20 and 2. It was amazing and converted me from being a "roll behind the screen" DM to a "roll in the open" DM. To each their own, of course. Myself and about eleven others would very much like to see this feature available in FGU as we came to love it in FGC.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Moon Wizard is the chief developer of Fantasy Grounds and has been for a long time so he knows what he is talking about. In the 7 years since I've used FG the DM rolls have always been shadows no matter what setting is used. The Show DM rolls option in both Classic and Unity shows the players a shadow dice and the result of that roll in chat. For example it will show that the DM rolled a 15 and that the bonus to the roll was 3 and the total was 18. With DM rolls off then all the players would see is that the total roll was 18. It would not show any actual dice nor the colour of those dice.

If you were using FG at the table top or if you were viewing the DM screen via a stream of some kind then you would see the DM dice rolls as actual dice etc. However used normally players will only see and have only ever seen shadow dice when the DM rolled. It may also be possible that if the DM controlled a player character in their game then other players would see the rolls for that character; but I can't test that so I can't say for sure.
