View Full Version : Notes not remaining Private from Players

I use the 3.5 system. I used to be able to make notes public or private to players and change when I want them to read something or not. However, the Notes won't remain Private anymore. I create a new note and it automatically is shared with all players. I have tried unlocking the note then locking it after making it private then as soon as I log out and log back into the campaign all the notes are shared with all players.

I make lots of notes from Overland movement rules, to Turn Undead rules, to goals and NPC's plans.

Not sure what has happened recently but I have to go in and make everything private prior to my sessions and it's beginning to become time consuming. I even tried making a new campaign and transfering everything over. However, I can't export my notes so I have to Copy and paste to a Google Drive all my notes.

Not sure if this is intended or not. However, it would be nice to allow the GM to make notes public or private in the 3.5 rule set. Anyone else experiencing this issue ?

I am pretty sure Notes is intended to be a Player function. For GMs, put that sort of thing into Story Entries.

From the Wiki: (https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996640928/Managing+Campaign+Data+-+Stories+Tables+Categories+...#Notes)

Notes are intended primarily for player use within game - to make "notes" on the campaign, characters, etc. and the data is present within the campaign database only. Notes cannot be categorized into groups. They are not designed to be used for GM, system, character creation, campaign data, etc. as they cannot be exported into a module for re-use in another campaign - use story entries for this type of data.

I suspect that something has gone amiss with your campaign. Try typing /flushdb into chat and pressing return without any players connected. This will remove all shared data from your campaign. It will mean than when your players rejoin you'll need to reshare everything that you want them to have. As far as I can see notes still default to private unless you tick the public checkbox.
