Or do I need to manually add the effects in the Combat Tracker?

Manually add the effect or you could use this extension which may do what you want. https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?40833-5E-Advanced-Effects-(items-npcs-characters)

Thanks. Thought it must be manual as I scoured the monster manual, volos and all the other npc books....

I have always wondered..... what is the deciding factor whether something gets added to the ruleset, or they leave it for others to create (and charge more money for)?

Charging money for extension is a recent thing, used to be all done for free on the forums...

I think its part of the wording in the NPC descriptions - automating effects is not the same as automating attacks.

See here for the kinds of things which the parser picks up for NPCs and creates the effects for. https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/996641934/5E+NPCs+and+Encounters
