It looks like the stats for "Typical Sailor" have not been updated for SWADE, and are out of sync with "Sailor".

Specifically, remove "Climbing" and "Swimming", add "Common Knowledge".

"Sailor" has "Common Knowledge" at d4.
"Typical Sailor" has "Common Knowledge" at d6.

The SWADE conversion guide (paraphrased) says except where stated NPCs have d6 Common Knowledge, then entry for Sailor states Common Knowledge d4

The relevant sections of the conversion document state:

P39 TYPICAL SAILOR: Add Athletics d6 and Persuasion d4
Unless otherwise stated, intelligent beings have Common Knowledge and Persuasion at d6
Humans typically have Athletics equal to their Agility and Common Knowledge equal to their Smarts.

I understand how you arrived at your interpretation, given it's not explicitly stated.

In the book, "Typical Sailor" (p. 39) and "Sailor" (p. 199) have identical stats, so I would expect they would be descriping the same type of NPC.

Given this, I would expect both to have Common Knowledge at d4.
