Hello all,

I am about to have a new rig built and we have just started a new campaign. I have the Ultimate version of unity and the players all access the game through my connection. I am the DM. I am linked through my steam account to FG and have purchased many FG items through the steam store.

When I start steam on my new rig is is just a matter of reinstalling FG through steam and everything will be loaded and installed meaning I only have to load my campaign from the cloud or are there some other precautions I should take to protect the data, notes, story and campaign info?

Thanks for your time.

FG campaign data is *not* stored in the cloud. If you set your campaign connection type as cloud this is using a cloud proxying service to avoid connection issues many people may experience.

All of your data is on your local computer. You need to copy the data from <FG app data>\campaigns to your new computer. Get to <FG app data> by clicking the folder icon in the top left of the FGU startup window. If you have any custom/community/DMsGuild modules or extensions you'll also need to copy over <FG app data>\extensions and <FG app data>\modules.

Once you've copied over your data, run an update to make sure you get the most recent versions of everything that is tied to your account.

Yes, except that your campaign is just that YOUR campaign. It's ONLY stored on your computer, it is greatly, GREATLY advised that you make regular backups off your machine in case of catastrophic crash. What you can do is copy your campaign to a cloud location (Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.) and then back to your new machine. But don't point your live campaign directory to this location, manual or some other method of automatic backup to that location is okay. There have been many instances of people loosing whole campaigns because the clouds auto syncing started at the wrong time and corrupted the files.

Edit: Damnit, ninjaed by Trenloe-bot again. :D
