View Full Version : Need help to pharse some damage lines in the chat

The dmg is done with a shortsword: dmg 1d6
He is a Half-Orc with savage attack and a STR of 20 that gives +5.

I have cut out a piece from the chat.

First dmg is a normal hit with no savage attack enabled.
Second dmg is a crit hit with no savage attack enabled
Third dmg is a crit hit with savage attack.

Shortsword should give 1d6+5
And that is what I see.

Crit hit should give ONE extra weapon dmg dice (1d6)
But here I see 1d6 to many

The savage attack should then give one extra weapon dmg attack dice (1d6)
Here I see one 1d6 to many for the critical and 1d8 for the savage attack, not the 1d6 I expected.


When I open the stats for the shortsword I see
Dice = 1d6
Stat = Base
The rest of the DAMAGE info is empty

Please explain.

And what extensions are you running?

Yes the damage is wrong and it's working for me so it's probably an extension that's the problem.

Can you post a screenshot of the Character Actions tab for the weapon used, or the NPC is its an NPC and any effects on the Combat Tracker. This is not default behaviour, something has been edited, or as Zacchaeus says it's caused by an extension, but those extension you listed don't affect combat damage except the Flanking one.

I also restarted the Campaign with no extension and the same number of dices still roll

I also use the Modifiers button (+/-) to activate the critical in my test here.
I have now also unloaded everything in library except PHB oand DMG.
Still same problem

How did you get the third line? That is, what did you setup to get that roll?

Effects should show as purple dice. Seeing two green dice suggests that these are purely critical dice for the weapon damage and no effects being applied.

@Cozy - click the magnifying glass at the right side of the "weapons" header in the actions tab. This displayes the "Weapon Meta" details - what does the "Extra Crit Dice" show?

Check that the player (or you) hasn't also added a dice to the Weapon meta data.

How did you get the third line? That is, what did you setup to get that roll?

Effects should show as purple dice. Seeing two green dice suggests that these are purely critical dice for the weapon damage and no effects being applied.

I did as follow:
- Activated the Savage Attack so that it showed up in the CT.
- In the Modifiers (small button upper right corner) activated Critical
- In the Action Tab dragged the weapon damage to a random choosen NPC. (An Abrior II 'The Asp' Sultlue)

And in my CT it is still the same number of dices, and the d8 show upp purple.

I quoted a post from Zacchaeus, so I was asking him the queston. As his roll didn't look correct either - so I was asking how he set his up.

Anyway - I think both myself and Zacchaeus have pointed you towards the cause - the extra crit dice.

It show 1 extra crit dice in melee.
So, thats the problem!!!

Probably because that is the easiest way to add extra critical dice for things like Savage Attacks :)

I added the extra dice to the meta data. I hand't realised that the OP had created an effect; I assumed he was using the meta data.
