I DM a session for Fantasy Grounds standard. Recently added a new player and walked him through the old steps I used to get my players to download the free version so they could join me. So, color me shocked when all the sudden a new player I'm adding can't get a free version that let's him join me. Now he needs to pay to play on standard when that wasn't the case a few months ago. Unless I'm missing something that's some pretty scummy business practices. Especially when I've dumped enough money into standard to cover the cost of literally all my players.

Not sure exactly what issue you're having. Could they not find the download for the Trial version to connect to your Ultimate license? If so, Fantasy Grounds Classic is definitely still available for download.

Or are you saying that you have a Standard license and you thought people without a license could join you? Because that has never been the case, you must have an Ultimate license to host free players.

Either way, there has been no scummy change in license permissions I'm aware of. If you can describe your issue I'm sure people here will help you get to the bottom of it.

No there has been no hard switch and FG Classic is still supported, it just is not having significant features or enhancements.

If you have a FGC Ulitmate license, you can still host as many free FGC users as you would like. No changes there.
If you have a FGC Standard license, then your players (if you have more than 1) have always needed to have at least a Standard license as well. No changes there either.

Please let us know which situation applies (or another) and we can give you more information.

There are quite clearly links to Free/Demo clients on both Classic and Unity.

Players have *always* needed a license to join a GM who has a Standard license. Nothing's changed here.

Now, are you confusing the Standard license with the Ultimate license, which does allow players to join on the demo. Which one do you have?

You are mistaken. Standard never allowed Demo users to connect, only Ultimate, which if you have been having demo players connect means you already have the Ultimate licence. So probably a user error for the new player (happens a lot) or you didn't upgrade for Classic Ultimate to Unity Ultimate if you made an update.

Open this link https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/ - and you can see the downloads for the Demo, Standard and Ultimate for all 3 platforms.

I'm guessing what the OP means is "classic" not "standard" - the former are different FG applications (Classic or Unity), the latter is a license type (Standard or Ultimate).

So I think @lavoiejh and @damned may have the solution.

Definitely no "scummy business practices" going on here - the OP just needed to ask "where can we download FG Classic from?". And the second post was completely unnecessary - I'm guessing that was by a friend of the OP chiming in with their "input".

@AzraelofAvagana Nothing's changed. If you're still having issues please let us know exactly what the problem is. Thanks.
