While learning me some die rolling methods, I came across this one. I experimented and see that if passed true, X out of it, X as instructions say will be the number totaled regardless of roll+mod - but when/why is this method use?

Say you want to report the number of dice that rolled 7+ rather than the total.
You can easily report it into chat but reporting it in the Dice Roll so the dragdata is correct requires you to do this.

This was part of allowing FGC to display alternate results for a given roll. It's used in any system where the total shouldn't match the die numbers.

In FGU, there are actually two pieces of data per die (result = die display, value = numerical value) that can be used to display alternate totals.

So, that probably won't be needed after FGC is retired, and we don't need that any more.

Both cool pieces of info. I didn’t have experience with rulesets who would use this. Was wondering what it did :)

How about "placed in carbonite, and preserved for eternity"?
